Home for "John The Typical Marine"

For the 2016 challenges, John The Typical Marine is determined to collect a couple of Guinness World Records for running barefoot races while jugggling. He learned a few things from last year's attempt and has already run the below half-marathon at a suitable pace to be considered for a Guinness World Record for that event.

Please note that this half-marathon record is pending Guinness approval/verification.

Videos for the 2016 Half-Marathon Race

On 27 AUG 2016, John The Typical Marine ran the Patrick Henry Half Marathon in Ashland, Virginia, while barefoot and juggling.

Before the race, my wife made this video of the race director introducing me to the crowd and my intent to set a Guinness World Record:

The FULL Half-Marathon video is below. With before and after footage captured by his chest-mounted camera, it is about 3 hours in length.

Lessons Learned:
1. I ran it fast enough to qualify for the Guinness World Record as their benchmark minimum time for all new half-marathon records is 2 hours 30 minutes, and my time was 2 hours 24 minutes 57 seconds.
2. Next time, I'll start with my expected speed group. For this half-marathon, I deliberately waited and started after nearly everyone had passed, but was trapped behind slower runners and had difficulty getting around them.
3. I'm ready for the FULL marathon now!
